How to Teach Your Baby to Survival Swim

Survival Swimming is the ability for a child to turn and float if they fall in water.

They can then breath and rest until help arrives, giving parents precious time to get to them.

They will also learn how to turn and swim from this float position to get to safety.

But if they can't reach it in one breath, they can turn back into a float, get a breath, then turn and swim again.

They can continue this Swim-Float-Swim Sequence until they reach the edge or shore.

This online course is designed for parents to teach their child as young as 12 months old at home or in their local pool.

Your child will learn to:

• Hold their breath underwater
• Float independently
• Find the float from a disorienting entry into water
• Kick and paddle to move through the water
• Enter and exit a pool safely
• The Swim-Float-Swim Sequence

Lessons need to be held regularly for approximately 6 weeks.

We recommend 4 to 5 times per week during this period.

Each lesson is a maximum of 10 minutes.

After completing the course, maintenance can be as little as once per week.

If you are unable to continue maintenance lessons during winter, we recommend doing a short recap with your child at the beginning of the warmer months.
